Lufthansa carries the spirit of Bavaria on its flight

A Lufthansa Airlines flight to Shanghai took off from Munich on September 20 with all crew in "Trachten" costumes, signaling the start of the airline's annual "traditional Bavarian dresses" season, coinciding with the Munich Oktoberfest.
Lufthansa ground staff at Munich Terminal 2 greeted passengers in traditional dress, a practice the airline has upheld for years on various European and German routes during the Oktoberfest season.
Munich's Angermaier designed this year's custom Bavarian outfits. The collection is certified to OEKO-TEX Standard 100, with all components and materials sustainably produced and processed.

An Oktoberfest night was held today at Paulaner Bier House North Bund to celebrate Bavarian culture. A runway show featured cabin crew in traditional outfits – ladies in elegant dirndls and men in Bavarian suits – as onlookers cheered and raised their steins in appreciation.
Lufthansa has represented pioneering spirit, passion, success, and resilience for nearly 100 years, offering premium quality and unique travel experiences. The airline connects people across Europe and worldwide, playing a role in significant moments in contemporary history. Lufthansa will mark its 100-year milestone in China next year.
"Munich has been celebrating the Oktoberfest since 1810. Over these 215 years, it has become an indispensable part of Munich life. Every year, well over 6 million guests from Germany and all over the world come to the Oktoberfest. It is internationally recognized and stands for Bavarian tradition and joie de vivre," said Dr Christian Scharpf, head of the City of Munich's Department of Labor and Economic Development.

"A big thank you to Lufthansa for helping to spread this joie de vivre around the world with its 'Trachtencrew' and the event at the Paulaner Wirtshaus in Shanghai, and for sharing it with our Chinese guests. I would be delighted if many of you took the opportunity to experience this unique festival in person and get to know our beautiful hometown. Welcome to Munich, welcome to the Oktoberfest!"

Since 1996, during the annual Oktoberfest, Lufthansa long-haul flight crews have worn Bavarian traditional clothing instead of their usual uniforms. The initial crew in traditional attire departed from Munich to New York on September 1, 2006. Traditional clothing flights have become a lively tradition, attracting visitors from around the world. Over the years, Lufthansa's Oktoberfest crew has flown to many destinations worldwide, including China, Japan, South Korea, India, Dubai, and the Americas.
