The 2025 UIM F1H2O World Championship Grand Prix of Shanghai revved into action in Baoshan district, marking another year of high-octane water sports excitement in the city, on Oct 2.

The day featured free practice sessions, offering racers a chance to familiarize themselves with the course ahead of the two-day main event.

"The F1H2O Shanghai Grand Prix, held consecutively in Baoshan, marks the full return of this world-class water skiing competition and symbolizes the power of sports to unite people and connect the world," said Niclo di San Germano, founder of H2O Racing, the organization behind the F1H2O World Championship, at a press conference.

He emphasized the importance of Shanghai as a destination for the championship, highlighting its blend of tourism and business significance.

The event showcases 20 racers from 15 countries, including seasoned veterans and fresh faces eager to make their mark on the sport.

Baoshan District Administration of Sports Director Zhang Bin highlighted the innovative "F1H2O plus" approach, which merges sports with cultural events, commerce, and tourism. Initiatives include the Wusongkou Air Theater, the Long Beach Art Festival, and a water sports carnival, along with exclusive discounts at local attractions for ticket holders.

For China CTIC Team, returning to Shanghai is a homecoming. Team manager Eric Chan expressed his anticipation for the race, "For my target, for my two boats, I hope they can finish in the top five, even for the podium."
