Shanghai Disney Resort announced plans on Sept 23 to expand one of its most popular attractions, Soaring Over the Horizon, increasing the ride's capacity by about 50 percent while adding a new finale to the aerial adventure.

The attraction, which debuted in Shanghai in 2016, combines physical effects with large-format projection technology to create an immersive flight experience over international landmarks and natural wonders.

Andrew Bolstein, president and general manager of Shanghai Disney Resort, noted that the ride has "delighted millions of guests of all ages since opening" and expressed excitement about welcoming more visitors to experience the enhanced version.

According to the resort, the attraction will remain operational throughout the expansion period, ensuring continuous guest access to the ride.

The enhanced version will maintain its original route, allowing visitors to soar above iconic locations worldwide before concluding with a new ending sequence featuring the Shanghai Disney Resort itself.

The expansion of Soaring Over the Horizon comes amid several other major development projects at the resort. Construction is currently underway on the park's ninth themed land, which will feature Spider-Man as its centerpiece, as well as the resort's third themed hotel.

Additionally, a new residential community for cast members is being built to provide more convenient housing options for front-line staff members and interns.
