Shanghai will host China's largest carbon neutrality expo next week to highlight emerging carbon management practices.

The 2026 Shanghai International Carbon Neutrality Expo in Technologies, Products and Achievements will be held at the Shanghai New International Expo Center from June 10 to12.

The fourth-annual expo will focus on energy transition, low-carbon transport, energy efficiency, circular economy, and low-carbon services.

It will also showcase cutting-edge green technology products.

Shanghai Xingye Materials Technology's intelligent foldable sun-tracking solar system is expected to be a major draw.

The system's vertical construction allows it to collect more solar energy and automatically track sunlight, making it more efficient than roof-top solar panels.

Meanwhile, industry heavyweights, including Shanghai Electric and Shanghai Research Institute of Building Sciences, will also join about 300 exhibitors in the expo space covering more than 40,000 square meters.

Shanghai Electric excels in renewable energy. Last year, it showcased the first Yangtze River delta "zero-carbon island" using wind, solar, and energy storage.

The Jiangxi Province island with 32,000 people and renewable electricity ran successfully last year.

Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region will be this year's guest province of honor and will promote its green power trading and clean energy development best practices.

Zhu Minglin, deputy director of Shanghai Development and Reform Commission, said energy consumption and carbon emission intensity per unit area have declined in Shanghai.

Over 6,000 megawatts of solar capacity have been installed in the city, reducing industrial energy consumption per unit of value-added by 12.4 percent.

Zhu claimed the city leads the nation with over 400 million square meters of green buildings and 1.9 million new-energy vehicles.
