Minhang is enhancing its business environment, and the Grand neoBay science and technology hub is making significant progress.

Last month, a revised action plan was released to create a world-class business environment with market orientation, legal protection and international standards to boost business confidence and market vitality.

To improve business conditions and enterprise experience, the plan aims to improve government services, industrial ecosystems, fair market competition and social co-governance.

Alumni gathering

The Grand neoBay showcases artificial intelligence, biomedicine, high-end equipment and new information technology as a global innovation and entrepreneurship hub.

The Grand neoBay Science and Technology Innovation Hall hosted a Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Tsinghua University alumni gathering in late January.

Over 120 overseas returnee alumni and government, corporate and academic representatives attended.

The event provided a premier platform for overseas returnee talents to innovate, pursue entrepreneurship, and collaborate in Minhang District through policy briefings, think tank matchmaking, high-level dialogues, and academic reports and presentations.

Minhang seeks to enhance collaboration with both universities in innovation platform development, industrial hub construction, and talent recruitment and cultivation.

To unlock talent's potential and creativity, it plans to introduce more high-end, premium innovation and entrepreneurship resources from Tsinghua University and Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

Embodied intelligence

A sector promotion plan supports the innovation of embodied intelligence.

The new initiative focused on government services, the industrial ecosystem, fair market competitionand social co-governance at the end of January to improve business conditions and enterprise experience.

On January 30, a meeting of the district government unveiled "Several Measures to Advance the Innovative Development of the Embodied Intelligence Industry in Minhang."

With five major initiatives and 18 specific tasks, it aims to address key technological challenges, establish public platforms, drive application scenarios, enhance industrial capabilities and build an innovation ecosystem to achieve an embodied intelligence industry value of over 25 billion yuan ($3.6 billion) by 2030.

Embodied intelligence refers to the computational AI used by robots to interact with their environment.

The district has over 200 industrial enterprises with 10 billion yuan in revenue. Many companies make core components, smart chips, industrial, service and specialized robots. It emphasizes elderly care technology and solutions.

Last month, the Shanghai Gerontechnology Innovation Park of the Grand neoBay matched over 100 industrial chains of upstream and downstream enterprises, investment institutions, experts, and academics.

Over 20 exhibition booths offered the latest assisted living, safety monitoring, health, and elderly care services. Hotly debated topics included technologies, capital investments, products, and distribution channels.

After this first matchmaking event, the innovation park will host ten more networking sessions this year. They want to boost elderly care and silver economy AI cooperation and integration.
