Neighboring Zhenjiang offers rich scenery and culture

Tourism authorities from Zhenjiang City, neighboring Jiangsu Province, released its winter activities such as temple fair, lantern festivals and exhibitions for the New Year and Spring Festival on Saturday during a tourism promotion event in Shanghai to lure tourists from the city.

These 18 celebrating events include the Xijindu lantern festival, a traditional bell tolling ceremony at Jinshan Mount Scenic Area on the New Year's Eve, a lantern festival with riddle guessing at China Mifu Calligraphy Park, a food festival at Zhenjiang's Dongxiang area and a chrysanthemum exhibition at Nanshan Mount Scenic Area, according to the Zhenjiang City Tourism Development Commission.

In addition, the Huashan ancient temple fair with a 300-year history featuring a lantern festival, folk cultural performances, delicacies and traditional floating river lantern ceremonies will be held at the Baohua Mountain National Forest Park through winter.

A nianhuo (New Year goods) festival will be held at the China Vinegar Culture Museum, while the Beigu Mount tourist attraction will host a narcissus exhibition in February.

Zhenjiang has prepared diversified fun folk cultural activities for the upcoming festivals, and will step up cooperation with Shanghai counterparts to boost its tourism development, officials with the city's tourism development commission said during the Shanghai promotion event.

Zhenjiang is home to a number of attractions such as Maoshan Mount, Jinshan Mount known for the "The Legend of the White Snake," Beigu Mount, Qianhua ancient village, Xijindu ancient street, and China Vinegar Culture Museum.
