Train diverts to save sick passenger

A train ran in the wrong direction to make an emergency stop at a railway station in Jiaxing city of east China’s Zhejiang Province around 3:40am on February 13 as a passenger on board suddenly fell ill and was in need of treatment, thepaper.cn reported.

The train conductor immediately contacted staff members at the nearest station, Haining. Railway staff on duty dialed 120 and informed the train controller about the emergency.

The train was allowed to dock at a platform in the opposite direction in order to deliver the patient to the ambulance waiting there as soon as possible, according to a railway employee surnamed Sun.

The 54-year-old man suffered shock due to infection. He is currently in a stable condition and under further treatment in ICU.
