Advertising Career Fair Draws Thousands of Aspirants
The advertising talent job fair held this week in Shanghai's Pudong New Area attracted thousands of job seekers from over 20 countries and regions. This event represents a significant initiative by the city to address recruitment challenges in the industry and solidify its position as a global hub for digital advertising.
Co-hosted by the Shanghai Administration for Market Regulation and the city's Human Resources and Social Security Bureau on Wednesday, the job fair featured 110 leading companies from across the advertising industry.
Participants included renowned global and domestic advertising firms such as Publicis Groupe and BlueFocus, as well as tech-driven platforms like BiliBili and RedNote.
The fair provided more than 1,000 full-time and internship opportunities in various fields, including advertising creativity, digital marketing, brand management, and data analysis.
It attracted over 2,000 applicants eager to meet recruiters in person, alongside more than 5,000 resumes submitted online.
On Wednesday, more than 40 foreign professionals and international students from countries such as Sweden, France, Germany, South Korea, Russia, and Spain participated in the job fair.
Among the attendees were Lisa, a Russian exchange student studying at a university in Shanghai, and her classmate Andrea from Spain, both of whom previously studied together at a German university.
"I searched online and saw there are many internship opportunities in advertising here. I really want to find an internship related to international management or marketing in Shanghai," said Lisa.
Andrea said she has been interested in Chinese culture and is looking for an internship to learn more about Chinese culture and the work culture here.
She studies international management and has spent two years learning Chinese, fueling her desire to experience China firsthand.
"In my opinion, China offers many opportunities for exchange students and international people. It's a great place to work, and I can learn more about this country," she said.
"Moreover, if you want to do something related to business, I think China is really a great country."
Policy incentives
The fair launched Shanghai's six-pronged "Welcome to Shanghai" advertising talent policy package to attract, retain, and develop industry professionals, in addition to job matching.
Skills improvement subsidies of up to 3,700 yuan are available to eligible individuals, and one-person advertising startups can receive rent-free workspaces for the first year, startup grants of up to 100,000 yuan, and talent rental subsidies for three years.
It encourages advertising platforms and large model enterprises to train self-employed businesses in AI creation.
Six major universities, including Fudan University, Tongji University, and Korea University, signed partnerships with industry leaders at the job fair.
The collaborations will build joint training bases, co-develop career-focused courses, and bridge academic education and industrial demand, helping students transition from campus to full-time employment.
