China Eastern Airlines has upgraded its express air service between Shanghai and Beijing, offering greater flexibility along with complimentary in-flight WiFi for select travelers.
The Beijing-Shanghai air express, which operates between Beijing Capital International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport, was launched in 2007 under the Civil Aviation Administration of China.
It is served by five major Chinese carriers: Air China, China Eastern, China Southern, Hainan Airlines, and Shanghai Airlines.
Designed to deliver the ease of bus-like travel, these express flights depart at least every 30 minutes and are supported by dedicated check-in, security screening, boarding gate, and baggage claim services at both airports.
To enhance the passenger experience, China Eastern has introduced a more flexible rescheduling policy under the "Easy Boarding" initiative. Travelers can change their flight at no extra cost up until the original scheduled departure time.
Eligible passengers may switch to any available flight on the same route departing within four hours before or after their original flight, with one free change permitted.
If travelers have not yet passed through security, they can make changes at any China Eastern check-in or ticketing counter.
For those who have cleared security, they may request a change at the Comprehensive Service Counter or directly at the gate of the new flight, provided that the original flight hasn't departed and it's within 20 to 60 min of the new flight's takeoff. This process eliminates the need to clear security again.
By the end of the year, rescheduling will also be available through the China Eastern Airlines mobile app and WeChat mini-program, offering greater convenience.
To meet growing demand for in-flight connectivity, China Eastern now provides complimentary basic WiFi service for Economy Class passengers booked in Class N or above.
This connection allows passengers to use messaging apps, browse the web, access office tools, engage in online trading, shop online, read e-books, and more.
For passengers needing faster speeds for video streaming, live broadcasts, or video conferencing, paid upgrades are available to enhance the experience.
