Travelers heading to or from areas adjacent to Shanghai Stadium are advised to anticipate traffic controls from August 17 to 24, due to the influx of fans for popular Chinese idol group Teens in Times' upcoming "Crowning" concert series at the venue.

With over 200,000 attendees expected, Shanghai police announced on Sunday a set of transit restrictions and safety protocols aimed at maintaining order and ensuring public safety during the high-profile event.

Transit measures

Since parking around the venue is limited, Shanghai police are urging concertgoers to take public transport, particularly the Metro and buses.

Those driving into the city are advised to leave their cars at one of 25 designated Park-and-Ride (P+R) parking lots across Shanghai and continue their trip by Metro.

Traffic restrictions will be enforced around the venue.

From August 17 to 24, certain lanes near Shanghai Stadium will be closed, and bus routes such as 985, 808 and 92 will be adjusted.

From 8am on August 17 to midnight on August 24, Exit 1 at Shanghai Swimming Center Station on Line 11 will be closed.

On concert days, from August 20 to 24, some entrances at Shanghai Indoor Stadium and Shanghai Stadium metro stations will be closed or designated as entry-only or exit-only to manage crowds. Police and metro operators will provide on-site guidance at the stations.

In case of extreme crowding, entry and exit arrangements may be temporarily adjusted, said Li Jie of Shanghai police's metro branch.

Family-friendly arrangements & safety reminders

Since more than 25 percent of attendees will be minors, often accompanied by parents, police will set up designated waiting areas for parents outside the venue, aimed at facilitating quick family reunions once the event concludes.

Audiences are advised to follow the built-in navigation of the ticketing app Damai, which directs them to their seats upon entry and to the nearest exit after the show.

Aware that the audience is predominantly female, organizers have increased the number of women's restroom stalls to ease queuing.

Police remind attendees that the organizer prohibit bringing any battery-powered illuminated items, such as light boards, into the venue. Tripods and flags are also not allowed.
