Unity China Partners with Tencent to Supercharge AI, Mini-Game Development
Unity China, a major game engine firm, has announced partnership with Tencent to accelerate artificial intelligence-driven game development and bolster mini-game support.
The collaboration, unveiled at the recent Unite developer conference in Shanghai, aims to boost production efficiency while reducing development costs.
Unity's core technology is already central to China's gaming landscape, powering blockbusters like the Honor of Kings and Genshin Impact. Its China-specific Tuanjie engine, which has attracted 500,000 downloads, received a major update featuring core rendering, cross-platform deployment and AI integration.
A cornerstone of this alliance is the launch of the new AI Graph game development platform, created by Tuanjie in partnership with Tencent's Huanyuan. This platform embeds AI capabilities directly into the production pipeline, with Unity claiming to cut development time "from several days/months to several minutes".
Furthermore, the companies are launching a new supporting program for the rapidly expanding mini-game sector. This initiative will focus on optimizing games and streamlining their distribution.
Mini-games are a booming business in China, with the industry's revenue recently hitting 60 billion yuan (US$6.52 billion), with an annual growth rate of 99.2 percent.
