Cross-border data flow

The Jing'an Cross-Border Data Flow Service Center opened recently, as authorities seek to help companies navigate data regulations and support international operations.

Located at Global Connect on Nanjing Road W., the center provides one-stop services, including policy interpretation, compliance consultation, application assistance, training workshops and technical support. The center will focus on industries prominent in Jing'an District, such as trade, finance, professional services and biomedicine.

The initiative aims to reduce compliance costs while strengthening companies' global competitiveness. In addition to serving foreign firms operating in Shanghai, the center will also support Chinese companies seeking to expand overseas, with Jing'an positioning the program as a potential model for managing cross-border data flows.

My Little Pony

The "My Little Pony Fairy Tale World" exhibition has opened at Jing'an IMIX Park, marking its debut in the city.

The exhibition features four interactive zones, including a central area of more than 200 square meters, a 5-meter-tall Pinkie Pie inflatable and themed photo installations.

Pop-up stores at the venue sell limited-edition and exclusive merchandise.

The exhibition is scheduled to run for three months.

Early winter beauty

Zhabei Park has emerged as a city-center spot for autumn and early winter foliage, with red maples, golden ginkgo and rust-toned dawn redwoods creating a layered seasonal landscape. Beech trees outside the park frame views of surrounding urban infrastructure, blending natural scenery with the cityscape.

Community canteen

A community canteen on Kangding Road E. has drawn widespread attention online for pairing everyday public service with a distinctive piece of historic architecture.

Known as the Butterfly Bay Community Canteen, the venue sits along Suzhou Creek in a Queen Anne Revival-style villa. Its red-brick façade, arched colonnades and a tall side tower give it a fairy-tale profile that stands out along the riverfront. The building once housed Jing'an's children's library and has since been renovated for public use.

Today, the canteen serves nearly 1,000 diners a day, including local residents and office workers, offering affordable meals throughout the day from 6:30am to 8pm. It also combines dining with leisure and cultural activities.

Outdoor seating extends the space onto the riverside and allows for pet-friendly dining.

Multi-sensory stage

A fashion-and-music showcase transformed the 800 Show into a multi-sensory stage on December 19.

Co-hosted by the Nanjing Road W. Functional Zone and the Jiangning Road Subdistrict, the event broke from the traditional runway format, weaving together Eastern aesthetics, modern fashion, Chinese-style music and subtle scent elements.

It highlighted Jing'an's growing role as a launchpad for new products and a gateway for local brands seeking international exposure.

Child-friendly market

A child-friendly market was recently held at Butterfly Bay Park, highlighting Jing'an's efforts to design the district with children in mind.

During the event, officials released a casebook outlining 44 child-friendly urban projects introduced between 2023 and 2025, covering public spaces, community programs and neighborhood design.

An expert partnership network was also established to provide ongoing guidance in urban planning, community participation, international exchange, technology and public outreach.
