Shanghai Concert Hall's New Season Has Much to Offer
The Cadillac Shanghai Concert Hall will host 185 performances and activities from January to July, including a tech-music festival and early music concerts.
In March and April, the "Digi Muse" festival will explore new music, tech, and performance industry possibilities.
French animator and illustrator Grégoire Pont will stage two of his "music and image" concerts, featuring young conductor Jin Yukuang of the Shanghai Opera House Orchestra and pianist Steven Osborne. Pont will paint and animate live to music.
Classical music lovers have long praised the Baroque concerts presented by the Shanghai Concert Hall. This season, a select group of early music masters will again perform in Shanghai.
On March 13, harpsichordist Trevor Pinnock will debut in Shanghai with flutist Emmanuel Pahud and violist Jonathan Manson, performing Bach and Telemann.
Organist and harpsichordist Ton Koopman and his Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra will perform Bach's Orchestra Suite No. 1 in C Major and Brandenburg Concertos 1, 2, and 3 on July 5.
Shanghai will play host to countertenor Jakub Józef Orliński and the early music ensemble Il Pomo d'Oro on March 19.
Orliński performed Baroque music and breakdancing on the Seine River banks during the 2024 Paris Olympic Games opening ceremony.
His Shanghai debut will feature songs from his award-winning album "Beyond," blending singing and dancing to showcase his energetic style.
Tenor Mark Padmore and pianist Dame Imogen Cooper will perform in Shanghai on April 3. The following day, Cooper will host a solo recital featuring works by Beethoven and Schubert.
In May, a series of chamber music concerts will be staged at the Shanghai Concert Hall. French pianist Jean-Efflam Bavouzet will perform the complete piano works of Ravel on June 13.

Shanghai Grand Theater has also announced a series of performances covering musicals, drama, concerts, dance, and traditional opera for the New Year and Spring Festival holidays
On December 31, the Milan Symphony Orchestra will perform two New Year's countdown concerts. The orchestra will perform Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 "Fate," Johann Strauss II's "The Blue Danube," and Chinese classics like "My Motherland" and "Spring Festival Overture" in their symphonic program, combining European royalty with the Chinese New Year.
The Grand Theater will host two concerts by the One Voice Children's Choir from the US on January 3 and 4.
On January 16, the Shanghai Opera House Dance Troupe, led by principal dancers Tan Yimei and Song Yu, will present a modern choreography that deconstructs classic opera.
The West End musical "Matilda" will stage its 15th anniversary performances at the Grand Theater from February 11 to March 29.
The immersive suspense production "Inside No. 9" will continue to be staged on the fifth floor of the Grand Theater in 2026, offering theatergoers a thrilling experience.
