German entrepreneur honored with Shanghai 'Magnolia Gold Award'

BoehlerJuergen Boehler, CEO of TK Elevator Asia-Pacific and China, has received the 2025 Shanghai Magnolia Gold Award in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the city's economic development, social progress, and international exchange.
TK Elevator, a German enterprise with a history of over 200 years, operates three production bases in China and maintains a nationwide service network. Its products are used in subway systems across 33 cities, airports in 51 cities, and high-speed rail stations in more than 120 cities throughout China.

Having been rooted in the Chinese market for three decades, BoehlerBoehler first received the Magnolia Silver Award in 2013. This year, he represents foreign businesses from Songjiang district among the Magnolia Gold Award recipients.
Since TK Elevator entered the Chinese market in 1995, BoehlerBoehler has strategically positioned its China headquarters in Shanghai as a global center for research, development, and manufacturing.
Under Boehler's leadership, the company has made significant contributions to the development of Songjiang district. Since 2019, its Songjiang factory has undergone digital and intelligent upgrades and was listed among the 2024 Shanghai Advanced Smart Factories. To enhance sustainability, the factory installed a distributed photovoltaic power station in 2024, generating an average of 1.6 million kWh of electricity annually and reducing 1,137 metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions.

Beyond his commercial achievements, Boehler is deeply engaged in public welfare initiatives. In 2012, he established a foundation that carries out projects on elevator safety education, support for disadvantaged groups, care for left-behind children, and environmental protection.
Boehler has also been committed to promoting Sino-German cultural exchanges, organizing visits, and fostering cooperation between enterprises from both countries. Under his guidance, the company has created over 1,500 jobs, contributing directly to the local economy.
He said that the Magnolia Gold Award not only recognizes individual contributions but also inspires foreign enterprises to seize new opportunities in Shanghai.
