Shanghai will stage the 2025 Shanghai Marathon at 7am on Sunday, with clear to partly cloudy skies and temperatures ranging from 10 to 22 degrees Celsius.

The city plans to shake off the dust storm that blew in on Thursday, with air quality returning to "good" levels during the race.

According to forecasts, temperatures will be between 10 and 11 degrees Celsius at the start of the race, with southerly winds of 3-4 on the Beaufort scale and relative humidity ranging from 20 to 80 percent.

The morning will warm quickly, reaching 20-22 degrees Celsius by midday.

Meteorologists advised runners to keep an eye on the temperatures, stay hydrated, and adjust their pace if they start to feel overheated. Wearing layers can help accommodate the cooler temperatures at the start and the warmer conditions that may develop later in the morning.

They also suggested easing off when running into the wind and avoiding sudden bursts of speed with tailwinds. With humidity dropping toward midday, small, frequent sips of water are recommended.

Because the temperature swing is fairly large across the morning, participants are encouraged to warm up well before the gun to avoid tight muscles early in the race.

The Shanghai Marathon is China's only race for the Abbott World Marathon Majors, now entering its second year of evaluation. This year's theme, "Run Beyond Borders," signals the event's aim to welcome runners from around the world. A record 356,589 people signed up for preliminary registration.
