Shanghai's first mid-sized theater in a mall opens

With a floor area of 1,700 square meters and a ceiling height of 12 meters, the recently opened "Star World" in Hongkou District boasts a unique feature: it is the city's first mid-sized theater in a shopping mall that can be transformed into a live house in 30 minutes.

This adaptable venue, which is located on the fifth floor of the LifeHub@Bund Central, has 800 seats and can accommodate up to 1,000 people.

In just 30 minutes, the venue can be transformed from a seated arrangement to a standing one, accommodating a variety of performance needs or event requirements.

This year's performances at Star World include the musical "A Sorrow-Forgotten World" and the ballad musician Xiao He's Nursery Rhyme Program concert.

"This venue is benchmarked against Tokyo's Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall, which is famous for its acoustic design and diversified event planning," stated Zhu Yin, president of Star Culture, the joint operator of Star World.

The venue has a stage that is 80 centimeters high, making it appropriate for mid- and small-scale one-scene shows, as well as live concerts, conferences, exhibitions, and fashion shows.

Yang Yumin, vice president of Star Culture, said that the venue will specialize in drama, musical, and live house style concerts, as well as avant-garde physical plays and dances.

The venue will also collaborate with local artistic and cultural agencies, such as Peking Opera master Wang Peiyu's Yuyin Society, and hold workshops and art experience activities for the neighborhood.
