JD.com, China's largest retailer, has detailed the core features of its first electric vehicle across range, design, space, and safety, as well as its official name: "Aion UT Super."

Using CATL's "chocolate" battery swapping technology, the Aion UT Super has the first 500km large-capacity battery in its class, according to its JD.com product page. It also monitors battery health and offers "chargeable and swappable, rentable and purchasable" energy replenishment.

In terms of space, the new car offers a wheelbase of 275 centimeters, 90.5cm of legroom in the back, and a width of 138.5cm. The front seats also have a lay-flat function.

The smart features include "Huawei Cloud Car Machine" technology, which enables cloud computing power and TB-level storage space, allowing for the operation of large applications and quick uploads of mobile phone apps.

For safety, the vehicle is equipped with a reverse automatic emergency braking system that can proactively stop the car upon detecting rear obstacles or incorrect operations.

On October 14, JD.com announced the joint venture with Guangdong-based automaker GAC Group and CATL to produce a new "national good car."

The e-commerce and retailing giant said it will focus on user insights and sales channels while not being directly involved in manufacturing.

MarMarket predictions indicate that the model's pricing will range from 100,000 yuan (US$14,032) to 120,000 yuan.

On Wednesday, the No. 001 of the "national good car" was put up for bidding on the JD Auction channel with a starting price of just 1 yuan. After four hours and over 23,000 intense bids, the final bid was reportedly over 78 million yuan.
