2 Japanese Teens Arrested in Osaka Robbery of Chinese Man
Two Japanese teenagers have been arrested for robbing a Chinese man of 5 million yen ($31,000) in Osaka, local media reported today, citing police.
The incident occurred on February 25 in the city's Sumiyoshi Ward, where the victim was attacked on the street by two assailants. The suspects allegedly used a device resembling a stun gun to incapacitate him before stealing his backpack.
The victim was also physically assaulted during the robbery and sustained injuries, including a fractured nasal bone.
In a statement issued the following day, the Chinese Consulate-General in Osaka confirmed the attack and said it had immediately raised the case with Japanese authorities.
The consulate also warned of a recent rise in similar incidents and advised Chinese citizens in Japan to remain vigilant and avoid carrying large amounts of cash.
The case remains under investigation.
