Argentina Sends 3 Batches of Aid to Flood-Hit Guangxi
Argentina's national football team said three batches of supplies for flood-hit Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region were sent yesterday, a day after it announced plans to donate materials.
"Guangxi, we are coming! Three batches of supplies were sent out together today," the team said in a post on its official Weibo account yesterday.
The team said support from fans, media and partners had helped it contact receiving organizations within a day, allowing its donation plan for post-flood reconstruction in Guangxi to move forward quickly.
"We cherish every bit of love and support from Chinese fans and this deep friendship," the post said. "We also hope to give back to everyone through efforts in every possible way. Vamos Argentina!"
The follow-up came after the team said on July 14 that it had seen news of the flooding in Guangxi and wanted to do something for Argentina fans in China, especially those in the affected region.
The planned donation included Argentina national team merchandise and supplies such as water cups, towels, clothing and backpacks, according to the earlier post. The team said it hoped the materials would help with recovery and rebuilding.
The team also said it had felt strong support from Chinese fans during the World Cup and wanted to return that support.
"Thank you again to all the fans in China," it said.
