A commercial C909 jet was converted into a mobile medical facility as medics flew from Shanghai to the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region.

According to Fudan University's Eye, Ear, Nose, and Throat Hospital, which cooperated with China's Commercial Aircraft Corp on this charity mission, all the high-end medical equipment on board was made in China.

Over the weekend, 49 Xinjiang patients were able to undergo eye and nose examinations and treatment on the plane, which provides a comprehensive one-stop service of screening, diagnosis and treatment, rehabilitation, remote consultation, and training.

Sixteen Xinjiang doctors at grassroots facilities were trained in advanced technology and operate cutting-edge technologies under the supervision of Shanghai professionals.

Officials said the plane acts as a health Silk Road in the skies. It will fly to distant places, especially where the medical resources are minimal.
