Highway Surprise: Strangers Escort Wedding Car for 100km

A lone wedding car on an expressway in east China turned into a rolling celebration, as passing drivers spontaneously formed an escort convoy – with some accompanying the newlyweds for nearly 100 kilometers.

The scene unfolded recently near Wuxi in Jiangsu Province and quickly spread online. The vehicle carried a bold banner reading, "How did you know I married Li Ting?" – a playful announcement that caught the attention of fellow travelers.

Dong, a driver heading home for the Chinese New Year, told Xianfeng News that the groom was driving the bride due to the long journey, with no formal convoy in tow. After spotting the banner, many drivers rolled down their windows to offer congratulations, honked in greeting and switched on hazard lights to join a temporary escort line.

Dong said the couple later stepped out at a service area to hand out wedding candies and cigarettes.

"Cars kept rotating in and out – at one point more than a dozen were accompanying them. It was completely voluntary," he said.

Dong added that the couple appeared to be in their 20s. When they neared their hometown, relatives were waiting at the toll station with a reception convoy.

After Dong shared the video in a group chat, many people asked for copies. Online commenters joined the festive mood, joking that "now the whole internet knows you married Li Ting."
