International Students Gather for Dragon Boat Race, Fudan Secures Victory
Fudan University claimed the title at the Yangtze River Delta HEIs International Students Dragon Boat Race held over the weekend.
The competition took place on the Fengxian Campus of East China University of Science and Technology. It is the fourth iteration of the regional tournament and the 16th Shanghai univeristy international student dragon boat race. First launched in 2008, the event has evolved into a well-established tradition for overseas university students to celebrate China's Dragon Boat Festival, which falls on June 19 this year.
The race gathered 32 teams and 716 participants from 110 countries and regions, among which six teams came from the neighboring provinces of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Anhui.
Fielding over 20 members from 18 countries and regions including Ukraine, Iran, the United Kingdom and the United States, Fudan University finished first in the 200-meter race with a time of 52.65 seconds.
Zhejiang University and East China Normal University tied for second place. Sharing third place were Nanjing University of Science and Technology, Tongji University, Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Shanghai Normal University and Shanghai University of Electric Power.
