Local citizens will be offered more public cultural activities this year, as the Shanghai Mass Art Center announced the latest cultural happenings today.

The cultural events will cover stage performances, handicraft workshops, exhibitions of folk culture and intangible cultural heritage and art lectures.

Information and schedules of the events will be posted on the digital cultural service platform “Culture Shanghai Cloud,” where citizens can apply for free tickets.

Nearly 300 cultural activities will be offered this year. Some of the highlights include original Huju Opera performance “April Song,” farce performance “Happy Village 18,” a Cai Galiang talk show, a Gu embroidery exhibition, a tea art salon, a shadow puppetry workshop and a traditional Chinese medicine lecture.

Officials said the digital service platform has been updated with more functions such as feedback opportunities and big data analysis.

“We will deliver more creative cultural products to local citizens to cultivate their taste in art and culture,” said Xiao Yeying, director of Shanghai Mass Art Center.
