The first phase of the Blue Pearl Necklace project in the Yangtze River Delta Ecology and Greenery Integration Demonstration Zone has been completed, providing an ideal option for a seasonal trip.
Nestled in Jinze Town, Qingpu District, the man-made greenery project is created by connecting seven lakes and one river, including the Beihenggang River as well as Huozedang Lake and Dalian Lake. It also links two major waterways, the Taipu River and the Lanlugang River.
As the most primitive ecological area among Shanghai's lake systems, it covers a water area of approximately 8 square kilometers. Surrounding the lakes are landmarks such as the Huawei R&D Center, Xicen Science and Innovation Center, Qingxi Country Park and the ancient town of Jinze.
These adjacent lakes and ponds surround a number of picturesque settlements, resembling a blue pearl necklace, hence the project's name.
The comprehensive water environment improvement project for Blue Pearl Necklace is divided into two phases.
Phase I is located along both banks of the Beihenggang River in Jinze. Its construction includes river and Dalian Lake regulation, earth dredging, excavation and backfilling, new construction and renovation of slopes, new flood control channels, pedestrian walkways and bridges, as well as new greening, water restoration and landscape projects.
The project deeply explores local village culture, leverages the resources of the Dianmao Lake group and the unique charm of Jiangnan area's bridge-town culture, and creates the "10 Scenes of the Pearl Necklace."
The project is not only the protection and inheritance of traditional culture but also a vivid practice in facilitating the development of the Yangtze River Delta Ecology and Greenery Integration Demonstration Zone.
