The 2020 Shanghai Book Fair is to be held at the Shanghai Exhibition Center between August 12 and 18 with more online ticketing services and online events due to epidemic prevention and control.

On Wednesday, a marketing event in Beijing promoted the fair to publishing houses and book retailers in northern China.

During the event, the team introduced the design, highlights and activities of the fair as well as how preparations were progressing.

At an earlier press conference, Xu Jiong, head of the local press and publication administration, said plans for sanitation and epidemic prevention will be worked out with the organizers and the venue to provide a clean and healthy place for readers.

They will do tests, cleaning and sterilization, garbage sorting and sanitation work in public areas in advance and install infrared temperature screening devices at the venue.

Public security plans will also be in place to deal with crowds.

The administration has also asked exhibitors to have less space for books and allow more for reading events.
