A video of three foreign tourists bathing in a prohibited pool at the Lushan Shimenjian Scenic Area in east China's Jiangxi Province has ignited online outrage, the site's management said on Saturday.

Footage widely shared on social media shows the men stripping down and stepping into the water despite prominent "No Swimming" signs.

They were also seen playing with a lifebuoy and allegedly leaving behind soap containers and other items.

The scenic area confirmed the incident in its statement, clarifying that the footage was originally captured by a visitor in April 2025 and recently posted online.

The video drew sharp criticism from Chinese netizens, who condemned the behavior as disrespectful and irresponsible.

In response, the management apologized for what it described as a "management oversight" and pledged to boost patrols and crack down on future violations.

The site urged all visitors to follow regulations and practice civilized tourism.
