Tickets go on sale for Rolex Shanghai Masters

The Rolex Shanghai Masters started selling tickets this week, offering tennis fans a variety of ticket package choices.

The upgraded ATP 1000 tournament is making a return after three years, taking place at Minhang's Qizhong Tennis Center from October 2 to 15 this year.

Apart from an expanded schedule and an enlarged singles draw, fans are promised an upgraded venue and the opportunity to meet retired star play Roger Federer.

"The Rolex Shanghai Masters has received recognition from players and all participants over the years," said Yang Yibin, general manager of local organizer Juss Event. "Our goal for this year's tournament is to attract more fans to the two-week long event."

Yang said the Rolex Shanghai Masters previously hosted about 150,000 spectators every year. With the expanded schedule, he hoped that figure would reach 200,000 this year.

The tournament will kick off during the National Day holiday. Therefore, the organizers introduced holiday and family package tickets with a discount of 20 percent for those planning to go to Qizhong on October 4 through 6.

There will continue to be day tickets and night tickets to suit the different needs and schedules of spectators. A new "champion ticket package" will cover all matches from the last 16 through to the final.

Those who are buying tickets for Center Court matches on October 7 through 11 (workdays) can receive a souvenir edition of a public transportation card under the organizer's proposal of low-carbon travel.

Tickets can be purchased through Juss Sports' official app "久事体育" and WeChat mini-program "久事体育APP." Fans can also phone the hotline 4006889194 for tickets and other information. Ticket prices range from 60 yuan to 1920 yuan (US$8.41- 269).

More ticket packages, including VIP suites and qualifying round tickets, will be introduced later.
