City News Service is offering a Mandarin proficiency program for Shanghai-based expats. Guided by Shanghai International Academic Exchange Association, the program offers free online lessons with licensed Chinese teachers in partnership with the TEFL Testing Center and Shanghai Yudian Education Ltd.

Starting in January, the program offers 8 hours of live teaching on the Xiaoetong platform and SuperChinese software for beginners, intermediates and advanced learners.

Register on the last week of each month, and the selected candidates will be announced at the start of the next month.

Each month, registered students will take beginner, intermediate, and advanced classes. The course combines independent study with SuperChinese learning software.

Take our online course twice a week, 8 hours in total for a whole program.

Register is open from Monday to Wednesday on the last week of each month. The winner will be announced in the beginning of the following month. Monthly enrollment capped at 50, selected through random draw.

Additionally, individuals who successfully register for the free program will be provided with a complimentary two month access to the Super Chinese app.

The Foreign Talent Research Center of the Ministry of Human Resources of China authorizes the TEFL Testing Center to help English teachers and aspiring English teachers earn the International English Teacher Certification and International Chinese Teacher Certification.

All tutors involved in this program are certified TQUK-TCSOL (Diploma in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) partners.

Course target

Beginner: This level enhances understanding of basic discussions and allows students to communicate directly in Chinese on familiar everyday topics.

Intermediate: This level covers the fundamental communication skills required for living, working and traveling in China, allowing students to express, describe and discuss a wide range of topics directly in Chinese.

Advanced: At this level, students will be able to converse fluently with locals on intricate topics. It also prepares students to study and work in a Chinese-speaking environment.
