Yanguan, an ancient water town in Haining, neighboring Zhejiang Province, has long been renowned as an ideal spot for tide-watching, going back centuries.

The newly renovated Tides and Music Resort, where Haus der Musik is sited at Yanguan, is an ideal venue for a spring outing.

A series of activities and events involving culture, music, cuisine, and sight-seeing is attracting visitors during this spring season.

In fact, this historic ancient town was said to be a favorite of Emperor Qianlong (1711-1799), who paid four visits during his reign.

Visitors may be able to follow the emperor's spring outing route of drifting along the Qiantang River, passing Gongchen Gate, to the Imperial Dock at Yanguan.

The drama "The Legend of Emperor Qianlong" will also be performed at the Chen Family Mansion, bringing the emperor's stories back to life for audiences.

After a day of exploration, a spring flower boat ride is a must. One can enjoy a leisurely afternoon tea on the boat while appreciating the picturesque scenery of the ancient water town.

It is also said that Emperor Qianlong was a gourmet, especially for hot pot. And visitors can have a special experience, savoring hot pot on the ancient city wall with other food lovers.

The "Music Night Market" combines food and music, offering unique culinary delights. Vintage music stalls with cassettes and vinyl records would also evoke nostalgic memories for visitors.

The Qiantang River tidal bore is one of the most spectacular natural phenomena in China, which has been observed and celebrated through centuries, dating back to the Han Dynasty (206 BC-220 AD).

The tidal bore is renowned for its height, speed, and power. The wave travels at speeds of up to 40 kilometers per hour (25 mph), producing a thunderous roar that can be heard from a great distance. The best time to view the tidal bore is during the autumn equinox, usually falling in September or October.

Tide Park in Yanguan is a perfect venue for viewing the splendid scenery.
