The 22nd Jingdezhen International Ceramic Expo will be held in October, announced during a press event on August 31 at Shanghai Tower, which serves as the first stop of the expo's "1819 Ceramic Carnival" promotional series.

Jingdezhen, in Jiangxi Province and recognized as China's "porcelain capital," is leveraging the expo, to be held from October 18, to enhance cultural exchange and highlight its rich ceramic heritage.

Jingdezhen Vice Mayor Gao Xiaoyun said that the city aims to promote both the preservation and innovation of ceramic culture, positioning it as a bridge to the international community.

Yu Xiaobing, chairman of Jingdezhen State-Owned Assets Operation and Investment Holdings Group, said all 1,500 exhibition booths have been booked, including a new "National Intangible Cultural Heritage Special Exhibition" featuring non-ceramic crafts and a themed "Intangible Ceramic Heritage" zone.

The expo will feature new models that combine exhibition spaces with e-commerce, design, and industry-chain services for one-stop assistance, he said.

Xiong Honghua, general manager of Jingdezhen Ceramic Culture Tourism Group, said visitors can expect the Jingdezhen Awards, themed marketplaces, and 13 parade floats integrating urban and ceramic culture.

He noted that traditional Gan Opera, foreign folk music and dance, and hands-on kiln-firing will create a "city-as-stage" mood at the festival.

Wang Zhihua, deputy director general of Shanghai Municipal Administration of Culture and Tourism, said the "1819 Ceramic Carnival" aligns closely with Shanghai's goal of creating a model for deep integration of culture and tourism.

He said events that combine cultural content with interactive experiences will revitalize the Yangtze River Delta and national cultural and tourist industries.
