Shanghai unveiled a 13-item action plan on promoting the city's used car exports on Sept 12, with the goal of raising the city's export volume to 50,000 units by 2027, according to official sources.

"Shanghai is moving to streamline used car circulation and boost exports by developing a full-chain international trade service platform," a notification issued by the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Commerce said on Sept 11.

The initiative aims to upgrade the city's auto industry and strengthen its position as a global trade hub, the notice added. By 2027, the city plans to foster three to five leading exporters, with annual used car exports projected to reach 50,000 vehicles.

A comprehensive service platform for used car exports will be established with stronger support to expand export volumes, measures to facilitate exports will be introduced, and services related to used car exports will be further enhanced, it added.
