Morgan Bilingual Kindergarten celebrates 10 years of learning and growth
Morgan Bilingual Kindergarten, located in Huacao Town, Shanghai's Minhang District, celebrated its 10th anniversary on May 18 with a vibrant event that brought together hundreds of students, parents, educators and international education professionals. The celebration marked a decade of growth and transformation for this pioneering early childhood institution.
A highlight of the day was a photo exhibition curated from submissions by students, teachers and parents. Over 300 photos captured moments of joy and connection – from children running in the sunshine and teachers offering heartfelt guidance to award-winning milestones and snapshots from various school events. Together, these images offered a rich visual narrative of the school's journey from 2015 to 2025.
The entire school community participated in the festivities, with each class putting on performances to celebrate the milestone.
One standout was a play by the "zebra class (斑马班)" titled birthday party in the Morgan forest, a collaborative creation by teachers and students inspired by the school's signature "forest classroom (森林课堂)" program. Held weekly, these outdoor classes immerse children in nature, helping them experience the rhythm of the seasons and deepening their connection with the natural world.
Adding a nostalgic touch, alumni from the past 10 graduating classes sent in video messages to wish their alma mater a happy birthday.
Among them was Gao Muran (高慕然), a student from the second graduating year and now studying at Living Word Shanghai (美高双语学校). She recalled that Morgan was where she learned her very first English word and discovered the joy of exploring the world through language. The lnternational Baccalaureate (IB) program's inquiry-based approach taught her to think independently from an early age.
Located at 567 Jinfeng Road, Morgan Bilingual Kindergarten offers a curriculum grounded in the International Baccalaureate framework alongside Shanghai's local education standards. The school creates an immersive bilingual environment, with its Tip-Top English program led by native-speaking teachers. Through morning Little Shakespeare Lesson (LSL) reading sessions, phonics instruction and theme-based learning, students build strong skills in English listening, speaking, reading and writing.
Huacao Town has emerged as a vibrant hub for international and bilingual education, hosting a range of schools from kindergarten through high school. Today, the community is home to more than 9,600 foreign residents from nearly 80 countries, making it one of Shanghai's most diverse neighborhoods.
