The latest health artificial intelligence (AI) assistant – Have you heard of it? Have you tried It? Meet the Afu app!

This is an AI-powered health management app designed to help you monitor your health and that of your family members. It's developed by Ant Group, originally known as AQ, a health-focused AI app product.

The name "Fu" (福) in Chinese symbolizes "blessing" or "good fortune," representing the idea that good health is a true blessing. As its name suggests, when it comes to health, Afu is your go-to app. Currently, it has over 15 million monthly active users, placing it among the top five AI apps in China and making it the leading AI health management app.

On this app, you can find AI representations of top doctors from across the nation, providing highly reliable advice. Over 500 top-tier doctors have created their own AI avatars on Afu, answering more than 27 million health inquiries so far.

Following the launch of the app, it swiftly surged to the top ranks of the Apple App Store, reaching the second spot on the free download chart by this afternoon. The strong market response serves as clear proof that "Afu" has effectively met user demands.

Currently, Afu answers over 5 million health-related questions daily, with 55 percent of these coming from places outside the top-tier cities. In recent times, users in Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu, Tianjin, and Guangzhou have been most interested in flu-related questions.

In Shanghai alone, over 60 doctors have launched their intelligent doctor avatars on Afu, covering various specialties like pediatrics, gynecology, cardiology, orthopedics, dermatology, and more.

For example, renowned obstetrician Dr Duan Tao (段涛), head of the obstetrics and gynecology department at Shanghai East Hospital, has set up his own AI avatar on Afu, with 160,000 consultations already conducted.

Dr Duan explains that around 70 percent of the consultations in his offline clinic are about basic, repetitive questions regarding pregnancy and lifestyle habits. The Afu app helps ease some of the pressure by addressing these routine inquiries. Moreover, many obstetrics clinics post signs saying "No Men Allowed," but AI allows men to engage more actively in the pregnancy process. According to statistics, 24 percent of the users who consult Dr Duan's AI avatar are male.

Besides top-tier experts, Afu also features academicians and distinguished doctors at the level of academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. These are directors, vice presidents, or hospital presidents with prestigious academic titles.

For users who find it difficult to describe their health conditions, Afu's "AI Clinic" mode simulates real-life interactions by asking follow-up questions and even providing diagrams to help users accurately describe their symptoms. Afu's health Q&A function can understand both voice and text inputs, and even images. Users can take photos of their skin, test reports, or medicine boxes and send them to Afu to receive educational answers.
