As one of the key sections of the Shanghai International Film Festival, the 2026 Belt and Road Film Week adopts the theme "Shared Screens."

The launch ceremony was held in Shanghai on June 17.

During the ceremony, the Belt and Road Film Festival Alliance welcomed a new member, with the Royal Film Commission – Jordan officially joining the alliance.

The alliance has now expanded from its original 31 institutions across 29 countries to 58 institutions from 51 countries.

Since its establishment in 2018, the alliance has facilitated the overseas screening of 67 Chinese films and brought more than 1,000 films from Belt and Road partner countries to Chinese audiences.

This year's film week will showcase 16 recent films from 26 countries, including China, Chile and Brazil.

Several of the selected works have previously been featured in major sections of internationally renowned film festivals such as the Locarno Film Festival and the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival.

A total of eight films have been shortlisted for the final honors, covering a diverse range of themes, including coming-of-age stories, reflections on homeland and observations of contemporary society.

The honors for Most Media-Anticipated Film, Most Media-Anticipated Filmmaker and Audience Favorite Film will be announced on June 19.
