Tunnel work
The Jiamin Line, an essential north-south rail route in Shanghai's regional network, has reached a major turning point with the completion of the left-tunnel breakthrough in the Qixin Road-Xinjiang Road section, as reported by Shentong Metro Group. This section features a left line measuring 2,460.8 meters, while the right line is approximately 2,461.5 meters long. As a crucial north-south trunk line in Shanghai's regional network, it aims to connect Jiading New City, the Hongqiao transportation hub and Minhang, functioning as a major corridor that links key new urban centers and transportation hubs.
Smart driving test routes
Minhang District is gradually opening 124 areas and 330 kilometers of autonomous driving test routes for smart driving vehicles. This initiative seeks to create a multi-tiered, multi-functional intelligent mobility hub. Companies testing, demonstrating, or operating autonomous vehicles must apply to district authorities for approval. They should submit detailed proposals, safety contingency plans and other materials. Before starting operations in Minhang, they must pass a review. Minhang has prioritized six key scenarios: the Xinhong Subdistrict in Hongqiao Transportation Hub, the Grand neoBay area, and selected roads in Xinzhuang Town, Pujiang Town and Pujin Subdistrict.
Integrated service
The Gumei Cultural and Sports Center has opened to the public. The venue offers reading spaces, sports venues, arts and leisure sites, and a new cultural and sporting experience for residents. The 12,000-square-meter venue has four above-ground levels and serves all ages year-round. The western branch of the Gumei Library has 12,800 books and 1,000 square meters of reading space on the third floor. It has a theater, an art exhibition hall and training spaces.
Wall painting
The Qinshan Road in Hongqiao Town is attracting residents with a wall painting. Instead of trendy art, the mural depicts a resident's kindness to neighbors and community members. Twenty years ago, 70-year-old Bao Meili opened her home to create the "Happy House" for the elderly. It started with a piano and a few chairs. She warmed the hearts of lonely elderly neighbors with songs and smiles. Over 30 volunteer teams have provided music therapy, neighborhood mutual aid and community mediation since then. For the 20th anniversary of the "Happy House," the subdistrict authorities turned the old facilities into a living monument to honor the neighborhood's virtues and warmth.
Footbridge coming up
A footbridge is being built on the east side of Puxing Highway and Chenhang Road in Pujiang Town. The 257-meter footbridge will connect Metro line stations and major industrial parks, making pedestrian crossings safe for residents. It will improve access to the Metro station, residential complex and Pujiang Hi-Tech Park as part of Caohejing Hi-Tech Park's renewal plan's supportive infrastructure upgrade.
Volunteer Day
On December 5, the International Volunteer Day, the Pujin Subdistrict organized an event in Jinnan, Jinzhong and Jinbei neighborhoods to highlight the subdistrict's volunteer initiatives. Jinbei volunteers organized a pet clinic and a quiz corner. The event fosters connections among pet owners and community members through the heartwarming bonds formed with companion animals.
Old lifts replaced
The end of November saw the replacement of 2,071 old lifts in Minhang District, with 944 already repaired and 867 under construction. Minhang led the city with 2,350 lift replacement projects and 350 million yuan (US$49.7 million) in dedicated funding this year. Xinzhuang Town renovated 654 lifts this year, the most of any subdistrict or town in the city. The district housing authority is also surveying residents about lift replacement projects for the coming year.
Zytoprotec China HQ
Austrian medical technology company Zytoprotec has opened its China headquarters in Minhang District. Zytoprotec will form a Chinese joint venture with Germany's Cell Technology Group and Chaofeifan Medical Group. They will create an industry cluster integrating R&D, manufacturing, marketing and investment to accelerate China's adoption of treatments for kidney disease. It will also use medical industry resources like the Shanghai New Hongqiao International Medical Center to accelerate local research and development validation and real-world data collection.

The ancient bridge, the clear sky and the lake's surface all seem exceptionally tranquil at the turn of autumn and winter. Don't miss out on the time-limited scenes! Step into the garden, and you'll find the ancient bridges and lattice window frames that bring out the gentle Jiangnan taste. It features a small bridge and the flowing water in the courtyard, as well as small rafts that are swaying with the shadows of branches.
