Shanghai's Nanjing Road Pedestrian Mall will roll out a major New Year shopping campaign starting December 30 with late-night business hours.

The event, called "Nanjing Road Welcomes the New Year," will run through early January. It aims to boost year-end spending and make it easier for shoppers to buy late at night.

More than 30 stores along Nanjing Road E. will extend business hours on New Year's Eve. Many will stay open until after midnight on January 1.

They include time-honored food brands such as Sunya Cantonese Restaurant, Taikang, Zhen Laodafang, Shen Dacheng and Lao Datong.

Trend-focused stores such as the Huawei flagship store, TOP TOY and MINISO's global flagship will also join. Tourist sites like Madame Tussauds Shanghai will extend hours as well.

The campaign comes as key malls upgrade. New World City marks its 30th anniversary with special promotions. New World Daimaru will reopen on January 1, 2026, under the name NEW ONE, adding fresh retail options.
