54 Hong Kong Enterprises to Attend CIIE with Twin Pavilions
The Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) will bring 54 enterprises to the upcoming 8th China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai.
Their products and services will be on display at the Hong Kong Food Pavilion and the Hong Kong Service Pavilion set up by HKTDC, the official organizer from the Hong Kong SAR. Forty percent of these participants will be attending the CIIE for the first time, though Hong Kong has attended all seven previous editions of the expo.
Answering the call for high-quality opening up on the part of the state and the CIIE, the Hong Kong government and the HKTDC will hold a promotion conference themed "Hong Kong as a Gateway: Shanghai-Hong Kong Collaboration for Global Expansion" during the CIIE on November 6, the second day of the six-day event. This will focus on Hong Kong as the preferred platform for Chinese mainland enterprises to go global.
John Lee Ka-chiu, chief executive of Hong Kong SAR, and professor Frederick Ma Si-hang, chairman of the HKTDC, and senior officials from the Chinese mainland will address the opening ceremony. This will shed new light on Hong Kong's pivotal role as a super connector, and super value-adder.
Thirty-three enterprises will showcase their premium food products in six categories at the Hong Kong Food Pavilion and provide networking and business matching opportunities for Hong Kong companies to expand into the mainland market.
These products, including some from century-old brands, cover premium food, flavorings, beverages and wine, health foods and nutraceuticals. A third of them will be participating for the first time.
In addition to showcasing products, there would also be livestreaming space at the food pavilion, nine hours a day from November 6 to 10.
There will also be cooking demonstration, tasting and Q&A sessions, affording audiences an immersive fine food experience.
Twenty-one enterprises will be represented at the Hong Kong Service Pavilion, with products covering innovative technology, medicine, finance, logistics, and information and communication technology. Of these, nine will be making their expo debut.
The Chinese University of Hong Kong, a three-time participant, will attend with two start-ups, including a state-of-the-art endoscopic surgery to be used on non-invasive treatment of early-stage gastrointestinal cancer.
