Airport Staff Praised for Returning Lost Phone to Traveler

A worker at Shanghai Pudong International Airport went viral after a passenger's online post titled "Thank You, Zhao Yongqiang" garnered over 30,000 likes.

The passenger, who flew from London to Shanghai on September 24, left his mobile phone on a cart at the Hong Kong-Macau-Taiwan arrival area around 5:30am. At that time, the Lost & Found office was not yet open.

Cart manager Zhao Yongqiang, who has worked at the airport for 13 years, discovered the phone while collecting carts. After failing to find the owner nearby, he reported the find to his supervisor and waited near Lost & Found. When the phone rang, Zhao answered and spoke to the anxious owner, who was waiting for luggage at the carousel.

Although his shift had ended, Zhao immediately went to the meeting point in Terminal 1 and returned the phone after verifying the passenger's identity. The traveler later brought a silk banner to the airport on September 29 to express his gratitude.

"It's simply what I should do. Now I can rest assured the phone is back with its owner," Zhao said.
