Jolin Tsai's Tour Producer Takes Legal Action Over Online Smears
The production company behind Jolin Tsai's ongoing "PLEASURE" world tour has initiated legal proceedings against several online accounts, accusing them of maliciously distorting the concert's artistic content and launching an organized smear campaign.
The decision, announced on January 7, follows online controversy surrounding several dramatic stage elements in the concert, which kicked off its global run last month. A segment featuring Tsai atop a 30-meter mechanical serpent, the use of a giant golden bull statue, and a performance incorporating traditional Chinese pole-climbing acrobatics drew particular scrutiny. Some social media commentators labeled the imagery "cult totems" and "funereal aesthetics," claiming inappropriate use of religious symbolism.
In a formal statement, promoter Yongdaoxing Entertainment directly named blogger "Celialiang" among other accounts. The company alleges these individuals engaged in the "malicious misinterpretation of artistic creativity," spread misinformation through doctored images and out-of-context video clips, and launched personal attacks against Tsai.
All evidence has been preserved, and relevant platforms have been formally requested to remove the infringing content immediately, the statement declared. Legal actions are now underway to hold all responsible parties fully accountable, said the statement.
According to the company, the pole-climbing act is an innovative presentation of an intangible cultural heritage skill from Liyang, Jiangsu Province. The overall stage design, conceptualized over 18 months with an investment of approximately 200 million yuan (US$28.67 million), explores themes of human desire and self-awakening across five thematic chapters.
