Shanghai Metro adjusts operations as Typhoon Co-may approaches
The city's Metro operator has announced key service adjustments to ensure passenger safety as Typhoon Co-may nears its second landfall in Shanghai.
Starting at 12:30pm on Wednesday, trains on Metro Line 2 between Pudong Airport Terminals 1 & 2 and Lingkong Road Station, as well as elevated sections of Line 16, will operate at reduced speeds due to worsening weather conditions.
Additionally, express services on Line 16 have been suspended, with only regular and limited-stop trains in operation. Passengers are urged to check for updates and plan their travel accordingly as storm conditions intensify.
Meanwhile, in response to the typhoon's impact, Shanghai has relocated over 283,000 residents from vulnerable coastal and low-lying areas. More than 1,900 temporary shelters have been set up across the city, providing essential supplies and support for those affected.
