Believe it or not, a baby girl with blond hair and blue eyes was born to a Chinese couple in Jiangsu Province – and her striking appearance has sparked widespread attention online.

The child, nicknamed Guojiang, or Jam in English, prompted speculation both online and within the family. According to a video posted by her parents on Douyin, a paternity test later confirmed that she is indeed their biological daughter.

Jam's mother told Ziniu News that nothing seemed unusual when the baby was born, except that her eyes were slightly larger than average. But as she grew older, her eye color gradually turned a vivid shade of blue, leaving relatives confused. Some even joked that the baby might have been accidentally switched at the hospital.

In a CCTV interview broadcast in July, Jam's father admitted he once wondered the same.

"When she turned one, I still thought maybe she'd been switched," he laughed.

The mystery was eventually solved when the family traced their ancestry. The child's great-grandfather was of Slavic descent, and the genetic traits had remained hidden for generations.

"Our family has always had boys – uncles, and older cousins. So the Slavic traits never had the chance to show up," her father said.

With her unusual looks attracting national attention, Jam's mother admits she sometimes worries how her daughter will feel about the curiosity.

The family is even letting her hear a little Russian to connect with her heritage – though, for now, Jam doesn't seem particularly interested.

"Whatever she chooses in the future is up to her," her mother said. "We just want her to grow up healthy and happy."
