Christie's to preview Spring Auction in Shanghai

Coinciding with the Hong Kong Art Month for the first time, famous auction house Christie's will host a series of live 20th and 21st century art auctions on March 28 and 29 at its Asia Pacific headquarters in Hong Kong. This will be followed by a live sale on April 3 in Shanghai, meticulously curated to appeal to Chinese collectors.

A preview of Christie's Spring Auction is on display on Tuesday and Wednesday (March 4 and 5) at Christie's Shanghai Art Space.

Remarkable works of modern Chinese art masters Zao Wou-Ki (1921-2013) and Chu Teh-Chun (1920-2014), as well as renowned contemporary artists like Yayoi Kusama, Liu Ye, Zhou Chunya, and Zhang Enli are featured at the preview.

Viewers will also have the opportunity to appreciate the legendary surrealist artist René Magritte's "La clairvoyance." This piece showcases one of the artist's most iconic and inspirational motifs – the leaf tree.

Additionally, Pierre-Auguste Renoir's landscape masterpiece from his mature period, "La Promenade au bord de la mer" is another highlight.

Apart from the Shanghai preview, a special forum on "Change and Consensus: Chinese Contemporary Art in the Context of the Era" will invite experts to provide in-depth analyses of the highlights from the auction series both in Hong Kong and Shanghai.

The preview will later tour Beijing on March 8 and 9.
