Dedicated Volunteers and Grassroots Organizations Ensure CIIE's Success

Volunteers, grassroots Party organizations, traffic authorities, and Minhang District community members have all contributed to this year's China International Import Expo.

Professionals involved in emerging industries, as well as migrant workers from Minhang have all made significant contributions.

The district upgraded its CIIE service network this year, adding volunteer service stations at subway exits and high-speed rail departure areas. It also recruited Party members as drivers and volunteers to guide and shuttle between the Hongqiao Transportation Hub and the National Exhibition and Convention Center, the CIIE venue.

Among them is Tong Jiye who has driven a free shuttle bus to provide short-distance transfers for travelers at Hongqiao Transportation Hub for seven years. She has made over 1,000 trips, transporting over 50,000 passengers.

Female task force

An eight-person female task force has supported urban management during the CIIE since 2024.

At last year's CIIE, task force member Wang Mu helped two Italian exhibitors through the mini-program in fluent English. They were worried about entering the venue without their expo badges and Wang solved the problem in 10 minutes.

This all-female team has long provided "urgent language service." They offer intensive training like "30 Essential CIIE Phrases" and multilingual service manuals in Japanese, Korean, and French to help more foreigners handle urgent situations.

Over the past year, they have guided and interpreted for hundreds of international visitors, ensuring their comfort.

The female task force has supported the CIIE for 160 hours since 2024. Outside the exhibition halls, they guided visitors in the cold winds and patrolled the grounds late at night for safety hazards.

Smooth traffic flow

Minhang and Qingpu traffic authorities sent task forces to the Hongqiao Transportation Hub and National Exhibition and Convention Center to ensure smooth transportation for vehicles and visitors.

Taxis and illegal passenger transport services were targeted by special inspections for violations. Each key location had supervisors to ensure high-quality transportation.

At 30 key intersections and roads, pavements were repaired and potholes filled.

The district's transport commission and Hongqiao Business District Management Committee reviewed public car park resources around the venue and the surrounding areas. At the expo, 5,000 reserved parking spaces were available on weekdays and 8,000 on weekends.

P20 and P25 lots were reserved for taxi parking and coach services.

A passenger ferry route was created to connect Panlong Tiandi shopping complex car parks P13 and P12 and National Exhibition and Convention Center car park P5 to improve efficiency.

Another special route connected the car park P5 to Hongqiao Airport and the departures level at Hongqiao Railway Station, improving transfer efficiency between parking facilities and rail transit and aviation hubs.

Promoting the district

CIIE also presents a rare opportunity for Minhang to showcase its urban landscape, drive industrial upgrading, and convey the warmth and charm of the city.

This year, Minhang launched a series of activities, such as "See Minhang at CIIE," to promote locally made handicrafts and merchandise.

Five investment environment promotion sessions were conducted to showcase the industrial momentum, introduce the latest talent policies, and attract enterprises to register and take deep roots in Minhang.

District-based organizations and 13 subdistricts and Xinzhuang Industrial Zone took turns in showcasing their advantages and specific industry policies, with 92 projects and intangible cultural heritage crafts featured across subdistrict exhibition days.
