'One River, One Creek' Creates Urban Hub
The core areas of the "One River, One Creek" initiative now boast clustered comprehensive functions covering finance, commerce, cultural recreation, innovation and residential life, with a full functional framework taking shape.
Two golden development belts along the Huangpu River – the Bund-Lujiazui-North Bund corridor and the Expo-Qiantan-Xuhui Riverside corridor – have seen rapid growth and established their initial layout. New growth hubs have also emerged, including the southern Yangpu Riverside and Minhang Zizhu Riverside.
The functional transformation of Suzhou Creek continues apace, giving rise to emerging districts such as Suhewan, Changfeng Business District and Airport Business District.
According to the river and creek master plan, by 2035 a 50km stretch along the Huangpu banks, cutting through six districts from Yangpu to the Pudong New Area, will be developed into five distinct themed segments, while the development plan for the Suzhou Creek extends westward from its downtown beginning near the Waibaidu Bridge on the Bund to connect with the Hongqiao area in five sections.
Shanghai's "One River, One Creek" is being built into a core hub for the city's development.
