A part of downtown Huaihai Road M. will be closed to motorists on Saturday evening due to the opening parade of Shanghai Tourism Festival, police announced yesterday.

From 5pm until 10:30pm, most streets within an area including parts of Yan’an Road, Xizang Road S., Taicang Road and Huangpi Road S. will be turned over to pedestrians. Buses will be diverted.

Vehicles are not entirely banned from streets around Huaihai Road M., but they will not be able to enter or cross the main road.

From 5pm to 9:30pm on Saturday, vehicles may not use Jinling Road M. between Xizang Road S. and Huangpi Road S. or Changle Road between Chongqing Road M. and Shaanxi Road S.

The off-ramp to Huaihai Road M. from the North-South elevated road will be closed from 7:30pm to 10:30pm.

From 8:30pm on Friday to 1am on Saturday morning, Huaihai Road M. between Xizang Road S. and Chongqing Road S. and Liulin Road between Jinling Road and Taicang Road will also be closed to motorists, with bus routes diverted.

This year’s Shanghai Tourism Festival will run until October 6.
