Typhoon Lingling brought heavy rains to Shanghai on Friday, causing flooding on more than 20 major roads.

By 12pm, the Wuzhong Road section of the S20 expressway and the Hongxu Road underpass of Yan’an Elevated Road were both closed because of flooding. Another seven expressways around the city have reduced speed limits due to inundation.

Shanghai's local flood prevention authority has mobilized more than 100 pump trucks across the city to drain the water.

The heaviest rains were concentrated in Xuhui, Changning, and Minhang districts. On social media, people posted images of deep floods and disabled vehicles on Hongqiao Road in Xuhui and Xinhua Road in Changning.

Meanwhile, in coastal areas, the city’s maritime safety administration has ordered all boats to dock.

At Pudong International Airport, 29 flights were canceled due to the storm.

By press time, no trains have been delayed or canceled because of the rain or gale winds, according to local rail authorities.
