A 39-year-old Chinese woman was fatally stabbed at a residential property in west London on December 10, British police confirmed, with one man charged with murder as the investigation continues.

According to London's Metropolitan Police, emergency services were called at around 11:15am local time after concerns were raised about the welfare of a woman at an address on Old Brompton Road in southwest London. Officers attended the scene and found the woman, later identified as Ke Xiaoqing, dead inside the property.

A post-mortem examination confirmed that Ke died as a result of stab wounds, police said. Her family in China has been informed and is being supported by specialist officers.

Police have charged a 23-year-old man, Deepak Sandhu, of Newlands Avenue in Southampton, with murder. He has been remanded in custody.

A second man, aged 47, was also arrested in connection with the case and has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.

"Our thoughts remain with Xiaoqing's family at this incredibly difficult time," Detective Chief Inspector Wayne Jolley of the Metropolitan Police, who is leading the investigation, said in a statement issued on December 15.
