The inaugural "Hong Kong classic films 4K restoration exhibition" is underway at the theater through June 8.
Eight carefully selected classics from Hong Kong's cinematic golden age are showcased with advanced 4K restoration technology, bringing these treasured films back to the big screen in stunning new quality. Selected films will also be offered for free screenings to fans!

If you're a fan of Chinese kung fu, you've surely heard of Bruce Lee. But what about iconic martial arts heroes from classic films – like Huo Yuanjia (霍元甲) or Wong Fei Hung (黄飞鸿)? Wong Fei Hung, a legendary martial artist from southern China, is famed for his signature move: the lightning-fast "Feet of Fury" – the legendary Shadowless Kick (佛山无影脚).
Over the past five decades, Hong Kong cinema has produced more than 100 films featuring Wong Fei Hung – an extraordinary achievement in global film history.

Founded in 1928 and redesigned in 1933 by renowned architect László Hudec, the Grand Theater has long been a symbol of Shanghai's cinematic heritage and stands as one of the city's cultural landmarks. It has witnessed a century of Chinese film history and remains a shared memory for generations of Shanghainese.
Originally unveiled by Peking opera legend Mei Lanfang (梅兰芳), the theater continues to preserve its original Art Deco elegance to this day.
